Text Box: Landscape Projects
Landscape projects can fall into one of many categories. Below are the types of projects followed by a short description of what those projects typically entail.

Landscape Remodel
A landscape remodeling project typically will involve a few steps. First step in this type of project would be to analyze the current landscape to decide what current aspects of your landscape will be re-used in the new landscape. We will always try and save shrubs and
perennials even if they cannot be used in the same location. A small design will need to be drawn up to show you what your landscape will look like when the project is complete. You can be very involved in this design process giving us your input and allowing us to customize your landscape to your specific wants. If you have a specific color scheme you would like installed, your new landscape can be installed to match that desire. If you would like the new area to be formal or informal, we can choose appropriate plant material to fit your vision. Typically this type of project will use the bed space as it was originally installed, but don’t be afraid to change shapes of beds if there is something you do not like. We will also make recommendations on bedlines if there are maintenance issues or visual issues we encounter.
The next step of the project will be to remove any unwanted plant material or hard-scape. When this is complete we will then tackle the desirable plant material. If that plant material is going to be used in another section of your landscape we will leave that in the ground until it can be transplanted into its new location. Replanting immediately will help the plants survive the transplanting process. Any new plant material to be planted will go in after the transplanted material has been moved.
The finishing touches of this type of project would be to add new mulch to the beds to cover the soil exposed during the planting and transplanting. This entire process will give your home a fresh new look and will help to take back those overgrown shrubs. You will be amazed at how a fresh new landscape can really make your home look more attractive!

Landscape installation
A new landscape installation can be done on a newly finished home. This type of landscape project typically will involve a complete property landscape design that will involve you from the beginning. We can handle all your design needs, and we enjoy customizing your landscape design to your specific desires and your planned uses of your property. It is your property and a well designed property will encompass all the ideas you have about your future use of the property. Your design could be completely different if you like to entertain a lot compared to if you enjoy your privacy and need screening from your neighbors. If you have kids and enjoy being outside a lot, then you will most likely need to have some open lawn areas. All of these ideas need to be discussed in the design process in order to provide you with the best possible design for your property.

New bed installation
This type of landscape project is typically performed when you have a landscape that is already installed. It will simply be an installation of a new bed to cover a trouble area in your lawn, fill a void within your landscape, or to create another area within your landscape that you felt was lacking. This project can also be to put in a bed for screening purposes if you have realized that your property is not private enough for you.
This project will have a few steps to accomplish. The first step would be to locate the best place for the new bed. The size and shape of the bed will also be designed before moving forward with this type of project. Once the bed has been located properly and designed for size, the second step will be to remove the existing turf of plant material. The third step will be to prepare the area for new planting. We will at the very least till the soil but if the soil needs to be modified we will add soil amendments and till the soil again. This preparation can be key to the success of the new plant material in your new bed. The soil that has been used as turf is compact and needs to be lightened and amending soils will help reduce this compaction and also allow for a much better planting mix than simply reusing the existing soil as it is. The next step will be to put in the new plant material and add mulch or stone to finish off the new bed.

Property enhancement
This type of landscape project can be whatever you feel is appropriate. It could be a simple addition of annuals to a bed for summer color, bulb planting in the fall to add to the color in your landscape in the spring, a fresh application of mulch to freshen the beds around your house, or an addition of a specimen tree or shrub to your property. We can recommend these small types of projects to you, or if you have an idea of something small you want to do to your landscape please feel free to let us know.
